About Me
The human behind the voices…
As a voiceover artist, my job is to become what you, the client, wants me to be for the purposes of your project. The reason I am able to do this authentically is due to the simple fact that I am a human being with my own life experiences, feelings, beliefs and critical thinking skills. A human being can understand and display the nuances required from a quality performer in a way that artificial intelligence cannot.
So, let me tell you a bit about what really makes me tick!
One of my biggest passions in life is food. I love to create dishes that allow me to experience different cultures in my own home. Asian flavours are probably my favourite because of the balance of sweet and savoury but nothing beats the feeling of producing the perfect warming pumpkin and butternut squash soup with homemade sourdough bread, a hearty Lasagna or traditional English roast lamb with all the trimmings (I make the BEST crispy roast potatoes and maple glazed parsnips and I feel absolutely no shame bragging about it). Baking extravagant birthday and wedding cakes for the people I love brings me more joy than most things, there’s no better feeling than creating something from scratch and seeing how happy it makes somebody else!
Another huge part of my life is fitness. I haven’t always had the best relationship with this and I often have to remind myself that moving my body should be about the way it feels, not about the way I look. It’s taken me a long time to realise this. I predominantly enjoy resistance training because it helps me prove to myself that I am strong and can push myself to do more than I think I can. Recently I’ve discovered that running and cycling are actually really fun and mentally-beneficial activities too and not just a way to make my heart feel like it’s going to burst from my chest! Improving my physical capabilities has been one of the best thing for my overall wellbeing and I hope I can continue to move my body for as long as possible.
I’ve always been pretty outspoken and don’t shy away from standing up for what I think is right. This may be due to my upbringing, my personal experiences or something else entirely but I think it also has a lot to do with my love of books and stories about good vs evil. I grew up with a great love for fantasy fiction and as an adult I love nothing more than diving into a real page-turning romantasy novel or mysterious crime-thriller. If the characters are multi-faceted and the stories grip me to the point where I am dreaming about them, I can get lost in a book for weeks on end.
At the risk of waffling on for too long about myself, the last thing I think it’s important to mention so that you can truly understand who I am is that I truly understand that life presents us all with challenges, whoever we are, wherever we come from but that these things don’t always have to remain solely negative. For a long time, the challenges I have faced in my life have proven to be quite debilitating in one way or another. Through making a lot of mistakes, doing some serious self-reflection and therapy I have found a way to learn from these experiences and reframe them into something positive. The most valuable lesson I’ve learned is to hold myself accountable and always remain compassionate with myself and others, even with those who hurt me or whom I disagree with. I strongly believe that this can be said for anything we experience in life. It’s never too late to flip the script!
